Company Overview
The Advanced Technology Centre for Renewable Energies (CTAER) is principally devoted to devising and executing research projects aimed at developing new technologies, testing already existing ones and providing the necessary scientific tools to optimize the exploitation of renewable energy resources.

CTAER is currently focused on Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) projects mainly in the solar and biomass areas.

In the Tabernas desert (Almeria), adjacent to the pioneer Almeria Solar Plant (PSA), the Foundation recently acquired a 100 ha area with high insolation for establishing new test facilities. These facilities will aim at testing new Solar Plant concepts for all types of concentrated solar technologies using variable geometry, and other innovations focused on enhancing the overall performance of commercial plants.

In Mengibar (Jaen), in the GEOLIT Technology Park, CTAER has established a biomass testing facility which includes a laboratory for the physical chemical characterization of biomass as well as a test bench for biomass boilers. These facilities currently serve as a national reference for companies specialising in the exploitation of energy from the different forms of biomass.

CTAER´s research and technological development activities include self-developed projects, projects carried out in association with other companies through subcontracts as well as specific commissions from promoters.
  • Demonstration projects for industrial initiative.
  • Collaboration in external projects.
  • Self-developed Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) projects.
  • Performance certification (for components, systems, materials etc.).
  • Private studies, consulting, training and information dissemination in Renewable Energies.
