The Spanish solar market continues to go from strength to strength. Within two years of the 2004 feed-in tariffs being implemented, market volume quadrupled. While last year's Royal Decree RD 661/2007 has pushed the PV sector even further.

There is, however, a degree of uncertainty. Current PV promotion proposals are focused focus on smaller and medium-sized systems, or the introduction of annual degression rates. And CPV and CSP technologies are no different.

The result? Solar visionaries are likely to face even fiercer competition – especially when it comes to securing the finance they need to develop their technology and projects.

Securing the necessary finance and investment has always been a lengthy and complex process. But make no mistake, as the economic slowdown tightens its grip on financial institutions, it's going to get even harder than to secure the life-or-death cash your business requires.
